Our mission is to take raw data from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and present it in an easier to understand format, with the intent of use by Hurricane/Tropical Cyclone enthusiasts and/or those interested in learning about Hurricanes/Tropical Cyclones.
The information presented on this site is not intended for use in making decisions on ones safety and should not be used as such. Please use official channels, such as the Official National Hurricane Center (NHC) website, for such decisions.
This website's intended purpose is to be used for supporting discussions on the hurricane sub-reddit by Hurricane/Tropical Cyclone enthusiasts who understand (or are trying to understand) the raw meteorological data.
This website is not associated with any government entity, including but not limited to: the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), the National Hurricane Center (NHC), or the National Weather Service (NWS). All data provided on this website is obtained from one or more of these organizations. The information on this website is not fully sanctioned by these organizations.
All services of the website are provided 'as is' and without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of data accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the services provided.
No user shall excessively refresh pages or use scripts, bots or other programmatic means that excessively request data updates, unless given prior consent. Your IP address (as outlined in the Privacy Policy below) may be used to implement service throttling or blocking of such unauthorized attempts. If you are interested in obtaining data updates, please message the moderators for approval, as other solutions may exist (for example, webhook or data "push" strategies) that limit the need for polling for updates (i.e. request every X seconds).
rhurricane.net may log and store non-personally identifying information about a user's request(s) to the website, such as IP address (which may determine country of origin), browser type, date and time, requested pages and/or apis, and referring webpages. This information might be used to gather an understanding of general website usage, and may also be used to implement api throttling and/or temporary bans for IPs we believe are violating our terms. Logs are retained for no more than 90 days, unless an IP is banned permanently, in which case the IP is retained.

rhurricane.net does not currently use any third-party services that would collect any additional user data.
rhurricane.net does not knowingly collect any personally-identifiable information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. If you think that your child has somehow provided this kind of information on rhurricane.net in some manner, we strongly encourage you to contact the moderators at https://reddit.com/r/hurricane or mailing rhurricane.mods@ via gmail. We will make our best effort to promptly remove such information from our records.
